Two things!
First, thanks to the Canadian Library Association for short-listing The Truth Commission for the CLA Young Adult Book of the Year award. I’m incredibly honoured to be among such stellar company.
I’m also quite thrilled to announce that I am being awarded the Excellence in Culture Award by the City of Nanaimo. WHAT!?? Yes! It’s true. Not only am I not being drummed out of town for my portrayals of this town, I’m gettin’ an award! Join us on Wednesday, April 13 at 7:00 p.m. at the Port Theatre. Other folks receiving Culture and Heritage Awards are Debbie Truman, Alyssa Glassford and John Hofman.
Please note that the event is free, but the organizers would like attendees to reserve seats so they know how many people are coming. It should be fun.
Talented photographer and excellent person, Craig Letourneau, took a portrait of me that will hang in The Port Theatre and he kindly gave me a couple of others. I went all-denim for the shoot, which may have been a mistake, but what is life but a long series of mistakes, linked together by regrets? I promise to wear a fabric other than jean for the actual event.
