The Fashion Committee will be out in May and that means it’s time to do a few giveaways.
Here’s the plan: Tell me about a time you made yourself an item of clothing or an outfit. Maybe it worked out beautifully and maybe it didn’t. Anyone who participates will be entered to win an ARC of the book. The book, as I’ve mentioned, is about two kids trying to get into the fashion program at Green Pastures Academy of Art and Applied Design.) You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, post your wee story on my facebook page, or put it up on Twitter (@thejuby). Don’t be shy about including a photo, if you’ve got one.
I’ll start. I once made an outfit composed mainly of hankies in an effort to look like a member of Guns ‘n Roses. Instead I looked like someone who wanted to be prepared in the event of a catastrophic sneezing session. Imagine the image below, then imagine a hanky around my neck, one around each of my wrists, my ankles and one around my thigh because things were different then. Needless to say, I would not have gotten into Green Pastures for fashion or anything else. I hope your efforts were more successful but if they weren’t, let’s commiserate.
Here is an early entry from Ashley. She made this dress for her sister, Chelsea. In Ashley’s own words:
“This one time, I made my sister a dress out of my grandma’s office paper and masking tape….then I walked her door to door up and down my street and showed all of our neighbours. I was so proud of myself (clearly, from the picture 😆) !!!”
