Christmas Tasks Accomplished as of December 6
Christmas lights: up. (Have exchanged passe icicle lights* for multi-coloured LED lights. Feeling good about the change.)
Christmas tree: still at large.
Christmas presents: also at large, except for the new shorts** I bought for myself to help get me through the boxing class I’m taking. I think my track pants were weighing me down and that’s why I was dragging my ass. Now, unencumbered by weighty leg material, I will be free to float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. At least that’s the plan.
Christmas cheer: in short supply. Much of it drained away when it was announced that we lucky Canadians will have to endure yet ANOTHER election in the New Year, so not only will we be inundated by horrific Christmas music, we will also have to deal with crappy and craven political maneuvering. Prize for worst television advertisement so far in this campaign goes to Stephen Harper for his faux interview with the minimally lifelike cardboard cutout of a woman that keeps airing during Law & Order. That ad is enough to make me want to vote for S. Epatha Merkerson.
Christmas baking: largely theoretical at this point. I do have the makings for a coconut cake sitting on the counter. Coconut cake is not terribly Christmas-y per se, but it involves baking. And the fact that the makings have been out for the better part of a week shouldn’t count against me.
Ho ho ho.
