I will be appearing at the following events this fall.
Sunday, October 18 at 2:00 p.m. I’ll be at StarFest, the St. Albert Readers Festival. They have an amazing line-up of writers: Lawrence Hill, Sandra Gulland, Craig Davidson (aka Nick Cutter), Claire Cameron, Heather O’Neill, Sean Michaels, Col. Chris Hadfield (aka COOLEST MAN IN THE WORLD!), Kim Thuy and Lori Lansens.
I’ll be appearing at the Vancouver Writers Fest October 20 to 22.
Tuesday, October 20, 1:00 – 2:30, Susin Nielsen and I will be in conversation with the talented Caroline Adderson on the topic of High School Jinks.
Wednesday, October 21 at 8:30 p.m. I will be taking part in a live storytelling event called This Really Happened. I’m not at ALL sure how this happened. I must have been recently knocked out to have agreed to do it, but I hope you’ll attend to see me sweat out a true story of a lie I told. At least one of the other writers (looking at you, Charles Demers!) is a professional comedian and the rest sound like accomplished stage performers as well as terrific writers, so it should be great, with perhaps one exception. Ahem.
Thursday, October 22 at 6:00 p.m. – 7:15 I will be on stage with Charles Demers and Bill Richardson. This will cause more sweating on my part as they are seriously funny individuals. Our panel is called The Lighter Side and Jen Sookfong Lee will be moderating.
Friday, November 20, 11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. I will be at the National Conference of Teachers of English in Minneapolis. My editor, Sharyn November, and I will be taking part in a roundtable session called Guiding Writers: Bringing the Author/Editor Relationship to the Classroom and discussing how the editor/author relationship can be applied to the teacher/student dynamic to improve the art of writing instruction.
Friday, November 20, 3:00 – 4:00, I’ll be signing in the Penguin Young Readers booth. I hope you’ll come say hello!
